Address by Dr Beth Greener

Dr Beth Greener, Head of School, School of People, Environment and Planning, Massey University

Thursday, 15 October 2026 7:30pm

Wairarapa

Rosewood, 417 Queen Street, Kuripuni, Masterton

Dr Beth Greener of Massey University will talk on the idea of ‘whole of society security’. She notes that “Polycrises are increasingly the norm. The impacts of natural disasters, for example, can be compounded by misinformation campaigns or transnational crime. In response to the rise of complex emergencies a number of states are embracing the concept of whole of society security.

In this talk we discuss this notion with an eye to asking whether this may be a concept that Aotearoa New Zealand may need to consider adopting also.”
