Cullen Breakfasts: Reflections of Fifty Years in the Mexican Foreign Service

Ambassador Pérez Bravo has served in New Zealand since 2019 and is currently the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, making him the most senior diplomat in the country. The Ambassador recently celebrated the amazing milestone of fifty years and became the longest serving diplomat ever in the Mexican Foreign Service, and will retire later in 2026.
Promoted to Ambassador at the notably young age of 33, he has been accredited to more than 50 countries. His postings have included ambassadorships to Russia, Malaysia, Portugal, Panama, and Algeria, along with senior diplomatic roles in many other significant countries, including the United States.
He will be interviewed by Angus Middleton, the Chair of the Wellington Branch of the NZIIA.
The fireside chat will draw on his unique experience and personal insights into many of the world leaders he has encountered, including Nelson Mandela, Barack Obama, President Xi Jinping, and both Vladimir Putin and Sergey Lavrov.
Cost: $35 per adult, $17 per student
Refreshments: light refreshments including tea, coffee and finger food will be available
Dress Code: The Wellington Club dress code applies (smart business casual or business attire)
Recording: The Chatham House rule will apply and video recording is not permitted.
