Film Fundraiser - Beyond Utopia

A jaw-dropping documentary. A human interest story and a historical document of what is happening in a powerful country

Thursday, 17 August 2023 8:00pm

Wairarapa

Regent 3 Cinemas, Queen Street, Masterton

Madeleine Gavin’s film tells deeply personal stories about people attempting to defect from North Korea and a heroic pastor from South Korea making the dangerous escape possible.

Screened as part of NZIFF 2023.

Beyond Utopia is a suspenseful look at the lengths people will go to to gain freedom.  A documentary that is both a big-picture study of oppression and a story of individual acts of courage.  The film won the Audience Award at Sundance Film Festival 2023.

As well as enjoying a glass of wine with some nibbles in the Regent theatre foyer before the movie, there will also be a raffle ($5 for three tickets) for the prize of $100 worth of books (to be drawn on the night). So bring some cash, and come along to a fun and stimulating night!

Tickets ($20 each) are available at Regent 3 Cinemas (for those regularly in town).

For others, please order by contacting Diane Grant, phone (06) 377 1359 / or email degrant@xtra.co.nz (with arrangements to collect and pay cash at NZIIA's desk in the Regent foyer on the night).
