Our Branch is hosting a Meet the Candidates event at Lakeview School Hall on Sunday afternoon, 23 August, at 1.30pm. Six of our local candidates have accepted our invitation to speak.

Because this Sunday afternoon meeting is hosted by our NZIIA branch, the candidates are expected to touch on their party’s foreign policy.  However it is primarily an opportunity for Wairarapa people to hear the candidates and listen to a Q&A session after their initial prepared remarks.   

Widely-known media personality Brent Gare will be the MC for this meeting. Doors open at 1.30pm and the event will begin at 2pm. We expect it to end by 4.30.

(Note:  you will be aware that various individual candidate’s meetings are being advertised in the Times Age. As well, the NZ Educational Institute is hosting a separate Meet the Candidates event on 12 August, at 5.30 pm, in Masterton Intermediate School Hall (38 Intermediate Street, Masterton). This meeting has a specific Education theme.) 

The General election takes place on Saturday 7 November.
